In 2006, Hillfield Strathallan College engaged Jigsaw Advertising Inc. to update and reenergize a brand with a 100-year history. After a successful launch of the new brand, HSC has called on Jigsaw to continually evolve their marketing initiatives. This year the College wanted a bold and exciting way to advertise, and Jigsaw knew exactly what to do.
Jigsaw's idea for HSC was to 'go big', and recommended large, prominent, and strategically placed outdoor billboards to reach the community. Since then, Jigsaw's senior creative team has developed billboards that convey the prestige and excellence of HSC. These billboards are now located in the Hamilton/Burlington area and will be rolled out to a larger demographic area later in the year. The College has reported a very favorable response to the billboards as well as an increased level of enquiries from prospective families.
In other HSC marketing news, Jigsaw also created a series of 'Congratulations' ads for the 2009 graduating class, highlighting their remarkable achievements. Every student in the 2009 HSC graduating class was accepted to their university of choice, and Jigsaw felt it imperative to share such an incredible accomplishment.
"HSC offers students an unparalleled environment for advanced learning, and its standards are second to none," said Eamon Cummins, president of Jigsaw. "We felt it very important that the community be aware of this, and that's why we recommended an aggressive advertising campaign."
Earlier this summer, Jigsaw also sponsored HSC's 13th annual Golf Classic – an event that raises funds for student scholarships, bursaries, and awards. In fact, Jigsaw's generous Platinum Sponsorship was the highest rate of sponsorship provided. The tournament took place at the picturesque Dundas Valley Golf & Curling Club. Thanks to Jigsaw and other supporters in the community, this year's event was a great success. It also provided HSC alumni the chance to reconnect with old friends while making new ones.
Jigsaw and HSC have been working hand-in-hand for over three years now. Initially, Jigsaw was hired to lead and develop a new strategic plan and a complete re-branding of HSC that would take the school into its next century. This meant the creation of a new logo, tagline, and colour palette. Since then, ongoing marketing materials have included the College View Book, The Guide, the HSC Review, Academic Profile brochures, newsletters, banners, agenda covers, special event invites/direct mail pieces, admission forms, and newspaper ads.
Opened in 1901, HSC is one of Canada's leading independent schools. It consists of four integrated yet independent centers of excellence: Montessori, Junior, Middle and Senior schools. The college provides continuous education from age three to grade 12, blending enriched academics with co-curricular activities. The school's objective is to enhance the academic excellence and nurturing of the whole child.
